The Tiny Foam Brace That Gave Chronic Neck Pain a 12‑Month Timeout

Would you believe that a tiny plastic brace helped people with neck nerve pain feel better for a whole year? After individual analysis and a care program of course, here is how Chiropractic Biophysics worked.
The breakdown of the study:
Researchers gave 60 adults with discogenic cervical radiculopathy (pain caused by a slipped disc pressing on a neck nerve) a 10‑week rehab program. Half of them also used a Denneroll cervical orthotic device—a small, curved foam piece that gently pulls the neck back into a normal curve while you lie down.

Both groups got less arm and neck pain after 10 weeks.
Only the group with the Denneroll showed a bigger improvement in the shape of their neck (called cervical lordosis) and in how far their head stuck forward (anterior head translation, or AHT).
One year later, the Denneroll group kept their gains, while the control group slid back to where they started.
What this means for you
Adding a gentle neck‑traction device to a regular exercise program can lock in long‑term relief—you don’t have to keep feeling worse after the program ends.
