How a New Study Shows That the Neck Can Be Straightened and Reduce Pain

How a New Study Shows That the Neck Can Be Straightened and Stay Straight

What the researchers discovered

A recent scientific paper looked at five people whose necks were bent forward (a condition called cervical kyphosis). Using a special chiropractic method called Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP), the patients received gentle pulling stretches (extension traction) and specific neck‑strengthening exercises.

Big results

  • The natural curve of the neck grew by an average of 24 degrees.

  • The forward bend shrank by about 18 degrees.

  • Pain dropped by 5 points on the usual pain scale.

  • Trouble doing everyday activities fell by 24 %.

One year later the neck curve slipped a little (about 10 degrees) but the pain and disability improvements stayed the same.

Why staying straight matters

Dr. Deed Harrison, who helped write the study, says the work proves two things:

  1. CBP can really change the shape of the neck.

  2. Keeping that shape needs ongoing care.

If the new posture isn’t maintained, the spine can drift back toward its old position.

How Chiropatrick Chiropractic Center uses CBP

  • Initial assessment – We take detailed X‑rays and measurements to see exactly how the neck is curved.

  • Extension traction – A comfortable table gently pulls the head backward for a set amount of time each visit. This slowly remodels the vertebrae into a healthier curve.

  • Home exercises – Patients learn simple neck‑strengthening moves they can do at home to support the correction.

  • Follow‑up & maintenance – After the main correction phase, we schedule regular “maintenance” visits to keep the curve stable.

If you’ve ever felt a stiff, sore neck, you might benefit from this proven, step‑by‑step approach. These are just a few of the ways C3 can lead you to better health.
